My name is Nicole Stevens and I have been a lover of books from a very young age. When I was small my mother bought me the Sesame Street series of books and all the Dr. Seuss books. I would spend hours on end reading and re-reading these books. My favorite book when I was in early elementary school was Shel Silverstein's A Light In The Attic and Where The Sidewalk Ends. I would spend hours reciting these poems to anyone who would listen.
As I entered my middle school years I had a great English that gave me a deeper appreciation for poetry. He introduced to me to poets like Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost, I was instantly in love. When I entered high school I had a teacher my junior year that introduced me to to such classics as To Kill A Mockingbird and Lord Of The Flies. This really got me reading and interested in more types of literature than just poetry which at the time I thought was exactly how I needed to express my teenage frustrations.
As an adult I have read a variety of novels from various authors. I have read the complete Harry Potter series and the Twilight series which have both been huge commercial successes. As a parent I have been exposed to many new and interesting children's books. Some of my children's favorites have been How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? and Llama Llama Red Pajama.I have to say though that I have kept true to my childhood roots and kept my favorites close at hand to read them to my own children.
I am now a college student earning my teaching degree through Eastern Oregon University and I am creating this blog as a requirement for my children's literature class. I will be reading many children's books from many different genres. I hope that you enjoy.
